Disinfection and sterilization in hairdressers and beauty salons are safety measures to prevent infection of clients with viral hepatitis B and C

In the course of 2022, 65 cases of viral hepatitis B and 30 cases of viral hepatitis C were registered among residents of the Lviv region, in 5 months of the current year there were 41 cases of viral hepatitis B and 8 cases of viral hepatitis C. Of these, it was reported that there were probably Thirteen patients (13.6%) in 2022 and four patients in the current year (8.2%) were infected during the provision of manicure and tattoo services.

Hairdressers and beauty salons provide services that should not only be of high quality, but also safe for health.

In order to avoid infection of the client, the master must carefully comply with sanitary and anti-epidemic requirements, including disinfection and sterilization.

· Before procedures with each new visitor, the master must wash his hands with soap, nails must be clean.

· The staff must have the necessary number of sets of tools for their alternate disinfection and sterilization, but not less than 2.

· To carry out sterilization treatment, the hairdresser must be equipped with a sterilizer; periodically in the process of operation, it is necessary to control the quality of the work of sterilizers.

· For disinfection of premises and tools, it is allowed to use disinfectants that are registered and authorized for use in Ukraine and in accordance with the Instructions for their use.

· After each use, they must be disinfected with disinfectants, cleaned and then sterilized:

- tools for manicure;

- tools for execution

- scissors;

- brushes, brushes and combs;

- cutting parts of electric machines;

- tools for applying make-up and make-up;

- Contamination of the surfaces of furniture, staff clothing, tools, various types of reusable underwear by various types of dust mites (Pyroglyphidae, Glycyphagidae, Cheyletidae, Acaridae), especially by such allergenic representatives of the Pyroglyph family as Dermatophagoides pteronissinus , D. farinae), should not exceed the number of 20 copies. per 1 m2.

- Demodex mites and pathogenic microorganisms should not be detected on work tools and equipment.

Insects and rodents are not allowed in the barber shop.

When visiting hairdressers and beauty salons, ask about everything you are interested in and about everything that causes you doubt. If the master wipes the tools with a napkin instead of disinfection, cleaning and sterilization, make sure that they are safe to use, ask to show and explain how the tool is processed, find out if there is a sterilizer and under what conditions processed tools and other hairdressing items are stored.

Use the services of only those salons that in their activities comply with the requirements of sanitary norms and rules and be healthy!!!
