Let's turn washing hands with soap from a useful idea into a habit!

World Clean Hands Day is celebrated every year on October 15 at the initiative of the United Nations and the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

Specialists of the Department of Antimicrobial Resistance and Infection Control of the Lviv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention taught schoolchildren how to properly wash their hands and take care of their cleanliness and safety.

Why is it important for students?

By teaching children, we can influence the formation of a culture of behavior!

The habit of washing your hands correctly and often will help reduce the number and prevent the spread of infectious diseases! According to the UN, about 3.5 million children die from these diseases every year!

It is important not only to develop the habit of washing hands, but also to teach how to do it correctly and to give an understanding of why it is important!

When should you wash your hands?

when they came from the street;

after visiting the toilet;

before eating;

after contact with animals;

after coughing and sneezing;

if the hands are visibly dirty.

Wet wipes, in particular those impregnated with antiseptics, do not replace hand washing, but only reduce the amount of visible dirt!

How to wash hands properly?

wet your hands with warm or cool running water;

close the faucet and apply soap;

soap your hands so that the foam covers your hands completely;

rub the surfaces of the hands: the outer and inner surface of the hand, thumbs, tips

fingers and between fingers;

wash your hands thoroughly so that soap residues do not cause skin irritation.

In general, hand washing should last 40-60 seconds

dry your hands with a personal towel.
