Prevention of infection reduces new cases of M. Tuberculosis

Healthcare workers and patients who receive care in these facilities are at greater risk of M.Tuberculosis infection.

Prevention of infection reduces new cases of TB and reduces the frequency of transmission.

It is for this purpose that the monitoring visits of specialists of the infection control department of the Lviv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the Center for Pulmonary Health to health care institutions of the Lviv region continue.

On July 5, they provided recommendations on infection control at the "Drohobytsk City Polyclinic" of the Drogobytsk City Council.

What was discussed:

- Are the standard operating procedures in the polyclinic registry effective in the case of referrals of people with a suspected case of infection with airborne and droplet infections.

- How to improve the work of the polyclinic's call center in order to detect a patient with a suspected case of infection.

- Early and rapid detection of tuberculosis infection, questionnaires of visitors and/or patients for the presence of symptoms of tuberculosis.

- Organization of examination of contacts and local route of a patient with TB.

- How to assess TB risks and methods of their prevention.

Well-coordinated infection control measures improve quality

- active detection of new TB cases;

- diagnosis of TB

- treatment of latent (hidden) tuberculosis infection in contact persons with TB patients.
