Stroke: causes, symptoms and first aid

A stroke is an acute disruption of cerebral blood flow, resulting in damage to a part of the brain. As a result, his cells die, causing irreversible processes in the human body.

The symptoms of a stroke are quite obvious — save the picture so you don't get confused at the right moment. For at least one of these manifestations, immediately call the emergency number 103 and clearly explain the symptoms and the condition of the person who needs help.


In case of a stroke, minutes count. Know: it is imperative to provide specialized assistance within 4 hours after symptoms of a stroke appear. That it will be provided as soon as possible. then there is less chance of complications and death.

How to help before the doctor's arrival?

Calm the victim and explain that help is near.

Give the patient the most comfortable position for him (an elevated position of the head up to 30 degrees is recommended), and also provide him with free breathing by unbuttoning the tight collar.

Keep an eye on the victim until the medics arrive.

If the condition worsens, call for emergency medical assistance again.

If possible, record the time of onset of stroke symptoms.


Remember! The victim cannot be given food or drink.


To prevent stroke, it is very important to control existing cardiovascular diseases, especially hypertension and diabetes. It is also worth controlling the level of cholesterol in the blood. And, of course, give up smoking and alcohol and lead a healthy lifestyle
