Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that is transmitted from person to person, who is sick herself and can release the pathogen during coughing, loud talking, laughing, crying.
✔ About 3,500 tuberculosis mycobacteria are released into the air during one cough. The same amount of mycobacteria is released during a 5-minute conversation.
✔ When sneezing, about 1 million tuberculosis mycobacteria are released.
How to prevent infection?
✔ Follow the rules of respiratory hygiene and cough etiquette! When you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue and immediately dispose of the tissue in a trash can with a lid. If there are no tissues, you should sneeze and cough into the crook of your elbow.
✔ Don't forget about hand hygiene! After each act of coughing and sneezing, wash your hands with soap and water or use an alcohol-based antiseptic!
✔ Wear a mask when visiting a healthcare facility! Do not reuse disposable masks! Remove the mask by the elastics, throw it in a closed waste container and treat your hands!
✔ Take care of access to clean air in closed rooms!
Effective prevention of tuberculosis - vaccination. Parents should understand that BCG is a shield for the child, which protects against severe forms of tuberculosis, which are especially dangerous for children in the first year of life.
Remember the most important thing! In case of deterioration of health, consult a doctor, especially if the following symptoms appear:
✔ cough for more than 2 weeks;
✔ increased sweating, especially at night;
✔ elevated body temperature for more than 7 days;
✔ causeless weight loss;
✔ difficult breathing;
✔ chest pain;
✔ poor appetite, constant weakness;
✔ hemoptysis (presence of blood in the sputum produced during coughing)
