"It was very emotional in a positive way!" — the head of the World Health Organization Ukraine, Dr. Jarno Habicht, shared his impressions of the two-day visit of the WHO Bureau in Ukraine delegation to Lviv Oblast:
“We have seen how vaccination programs reach the elderly. At the same time, elderly people come with children and receive advice on health and how to deal with chronic diseases.
Today we had the opportunity to meet with colleagues from the public health system to discuss many initiatives:
☛ how to make school meals healthier;
☛ how to make the school environment smoke-free;
☛ as the next generation of Ukrainians, it is important to know how to be healthier, follow a healthy diet, how to engage in more physical activity and how to avoid diseases.
I see so many initiatives! Every time I return to Lviv, some new initiative appears.
It was also emotional when the first snow fell in Lviv, and I went for a morning run in the center. We see that despite the ongoing war, the public health system is developing.
People are resilient, they take steps to support the population to be healthier.
It is very encouraging and encouraging to see that we, on our part, are also supporting many initiatives, particularly immunization, which makes the school environment healthier.
There are many ideas that we implement together with the Lviv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention," concluded Dr. Jarno Habikht.
