We cooperate in many projects, most recently - the WHO global initiative "Turns every school into a school that promotes health". The initiative aims to promote positive development, encourage physical activity, balanced nutrition and prevent tobacco use
From 2021, the World Health Organization Ukraine is supporting the Lviv Community Center for the successful implementation of a pilot project on schools free of nicotine and tobacco, followed by a reform of school meals aimed at students, teachers and parents. The future phase of this work will include health promotion measures aimed at to other risk factors, including alcohol and drugs
For the success of the projects in Lviv, we plan to scale these initiatives to five more regions in November-December 2023 in partnership with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the Center for Public Health of Ukraine
WHO has long advocated improving nutrition and promoting a healthy lifestyle in schools. As part of our #HealthForAll advocacy mandate, we supported the implementation of First Lady Olena Zelenska's successful school nutrition reform and helped facilitate Ukraine's recent entry into the Global School Nutrition Coalition.
