Appeal to parents. Measles

DEAR PARENTS!

During the years 2000-2020, in Ukraine, including the Lviv region, there were 4 large outbreaks of measles diseases that had the character of an epidemic - in 2001, 2006, 2012, and 2018-2019. In the last two years alone, almost 18,000 people fell ill with measles in Lviv Oblast. During each outbreak, more than 70% of patients were children. There is a danger that there may be an outbreak of this disease in 2023-2024 as well!

The only preventive measure to prevent such disease outbreaks is vaccination! However, the amount of measles vaccinations is currently insufficient. Coverage of preventive vaccinations against measles, mumps and rubella in the region for 6 months of this year is: 1-year-old children - 40.7%, 6-year-old - 31.5% of the number of those who need them. In general, more than 19,500 children under the age of 17 were not vaccinated.

We sincerely ask you to check the vaccination status of your children and make up for missed vaccinations. And also take into account that these vaccinations are provided by the Calendar of preventive vaccinations and are free of charge.

Currently, a nationwide campaign to vaccinate children against measles, mumps, and rubella is ongoing in the country. About 3,000 children aged 2 to 17 have already been vaccinated in the region.

However, the coverage of mandatory vaccinations has not yet reached the appropriate level. In order to prevent an outbreak of measles, vaccinations must be made up, and children must be vaccinated.

By the way, in accordance with Article 53 of the Law of Ukraine "On Education", students have the right to safe and harmless conditions of study, maintenance and work, and are also obliged to treat their own health, the health of others, and the environment responsibly and carefully.

The vaccine against measles, mumps and rubella has already been delivered to health care facilities in the region, and despite the military challenges, there is no shortage or lack of vaccine.

Here you can get information about the vaccination points that work in each region and the availability of measles, mumps and rubella vaccine there.

Where access to stationary vaccination points is difficult or impossible, mobile teams of health care institutions work. They also vaccinate children who cannot move on their own due to health conditions, and organized groups (educational institutions, children's health camps, etc.). To call a mobile vaccination team, you need to contact the institution that provides you with medical services, or call the regional coordinator (contact details of the regional coordinators are attached). You can also call the hotline of the Ministry of Health at the following number:

0 800 60 20 19 and they will guide you on who to contact in the region.

Thank you for understanding!
