The list of contraindications to vaccination against measles is small. In Ukraine, according to world standards, it does not even include mild colds with a temperature of up to 38.0 °C.
Contraindications to vaccination in Ukraine are approved by the order of the Ministry of Health No. 2070 of October 11, 2019.
When vaccination against measles is not done:
① Acute disease accompanied by a temperature higher than 38.0 °C.
② Serious allergic reaction (anaphylactic shock) to a previous dose of the vaccine or when an allergic reaction to one of the components of the vaccine is known.
③ Diseases and conditions of the body in which immunity may not be formed after the administration of the vaccine (for example, in the conditions of chemotherapy in cancer patients; in case of use of large doses of steroid hormones; use of drugs that suppress immunity; in case of immunodeficiency due to HIV).
④ Pregnancy. Pregnant women are not vaccinated with the PDA vaccine, because it contains live viruses. Vaccination against measles must be done before pregnancy.
Vaccination before surgery should not be refused: if the child feels well, there is no reason to postpone the PDA vaccination. Likewise after surgery: you don't need to wait, for example, a month - vaccination can be done as soon as the child feels well. After acute diseases, vaccination can be done immediately after recovery.
Vaccination missed according to the calendar must be made up. This means that it will be possible to protect the child very soon. It is important that parents do not postpone the vaccination of PDA for a long time, depriving the child of protection against measles, and also do not postpone vaccination after temporary contraindications for an unreasonably long time.
