Although people 45+ are mostly at risk of being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, even children can get it.
However, children are more likely to develop type 1 diabetes, which is often called "childhood diabetes."
It is an autoimmune condition in which a person's immune system attacks and destroys the cells that produce insulin in the pancreas.
How exactly to understand that the child's condition is threatening and requires attention and diagnosis?
The red flags of diabetes in children are called 4T in English, which comes from the first letters of these signs in English(thirst, toilet, thinner, tired).
We offer the Ukrainian abbreviation 4C: thirst, urination, weight loss, fatigue.
☛ Thirst: the child constantly wants to drink and seems unable to get drunk;
☛ Urination, toilet: the child urinates more often, especially at night;
☛ Weight loss, thinner: the child loses weight without any actions aimed at this;
☛ Fatigue, tired: the child constantly feels tired.
These 4 changes in the child's body indicate that it is necessary to consult a doctor as soon as possible.
