What should be alarming? The main symptoms of diabetes:
excessive urination
thirst
constant feeling of hunger
loss of body weight
fatigue
deterioration of vision
How dangerous is diabetes?
Adults with diabetes have a 2-3 times higher risk of heart attack and stroke.
Decreased blood flow through the affected vessels in combination with nerve damage
endings significantly increases the risk of leg ulcers and infection, and
the final result may threaten limb amputation.
Diseases of the retina due to damage to small blood vessels are
the cause of 1% of cases of blindness in the world.
Diabetes is the leading cause of kidney failure.
Prevention of diabetes is in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
What shall I do?
Reach a normal body weight (for this you should calculate the BMI - body mass index)
and support it.
Be physically active.
Follow a healthy diet and reduce the amount of sugar and saturated
fats
Quit smoking and give up alcohol. There is no safe dose of alcohol!
