If you accidentally swallow dirty water in reservoirs, you can get various infections. Most often, this happens in children who swim and dive for a long time. One of the infections is rotavirus, it is transmitted through human feces, which can be in water.
Symptoms of rotavirus:
☛ frequent vomiting
☛ severe watery diarrhea
☛ temperature
☛ stomach pain
If such symptoms appear, you should consult a doctor.
The most effective protection against rotavirus infection is vaccination
The rotavirus vaccine is not included in the National Vaccination Calendar. However, it can be purchased at your own expense.
Two rotavirus vaccines (drops) for children are now available. One involves two doses between 6 and 24 weeks of age. The second is three doses at the age of 6 to 32 weeks.
There is no vaccine for older children and adults. That is why vaccination is recommended at an early age.
To reduce the risk of infection, you should follow simple rules:
☛ Choose a reservoir and a beach for recreation that have the appropriate permit
☛ Do not drink water from the reservoir, do not wash vegetables and fruits in it
☛ Avoid swallowing water while bathing
☛ Avoid bodies of water near which there is a "no swimming" sign
☛ Do not swim in ponds with stagnant water
