Asthma is a chronic disease that is most often manifested by periodic attacks of shortness of breath and wheezing. The frequency and severity of these symptoms can vary. For example, the interval between attacks can vary from one hour to one day. As a rule, attacks occur during physical activity or at night.
Bronchial asthma can affect people of all age groups, but most often it is children and young people.
Such trends are the same both in Ukraine and in other countries of the world.
Bronchial asthma develops as a chronic inflammation of the respiratory tract, namely the bronchi, which leads to increased sensitivity of nerve endings in the respiratory tract and their rapid irritation. However, frequent asthma attacks in most cases significantly worsen the quality of life, because a person suffers from insomnia, fatigue, and low activity.
It manifests itself in different ways.
Usually, an attack occurs under the influence of certain triggers.
In most cases, it develops over several days, but there are also unexpected, strong attacks.
Between periods of exacerbations, the patient feels satisfactory.
Asthma is considered an incurable disease. However, the course of the disease and the manifestation of symptoms can be controlled. Scientists still have not been able to accurately determine the main causes of asthma. However, most experts agree that genetic predisposition combined with external stimuli are the most common risk factors for developing asthma.
The most common causes of bronchial asthma:
➡ allergens,
➡ hereditary predisposition,
➡ harmful working conditions,
➡ frequent respiratory diseases,
➡ obesity,
➡ low physical activity,
➡ adverse weather conditions (cold air),
➡ strong emotional (fear or anger) and physical stress.
To reduce the risks of bronchial asthma, it is necessary
➡ monitor cleanliness at home, regularly clean and ventilate the premises;
➡ monitor the level of air dryness, if necessary, moisten and filter it with special devices;
➡ limit the use of household chemicals, and use rubber gloves and a mask during cleaning;
➡ at the first suspicion of allergy, consult a doctor;
➡ since some drugs can cause asthma, do not engage in self-medication.
